I don’t know about you, but when January comes around, it gets me thinking about travel planning for the year ahead. This year I have a few plans for holidays and breaks away. Here are the things I have booked already.
A long weekend in Amsterdam
Amsterdam has been on my radar for some time, and after coming across some very cheap flights last year, we decided to book a long weekend in February. We will be stopping at the Qbic Hotel in the financial district of Amsterdam, about 20 minutes from the centre. I plan on spending the days eating delicious food; (The Happy Pig Pancake Company and Amsterdam Cheese Company being just two of many of our radar) wandering around the streets checking out the shops and buildings that line the canals, visiting Vondelpark and Leidseplein Square and taking a trip to The Movies – a gorgeous looking veteran art house movie theatre with an art deco theme. I can’t wait!
A midweek break in Newcastle Upon Tyne
My sister has lived in Sunderland for a few years and I haven’t visited her yet, so in March I am planning a visit to Newcastle to spend a few days with her and see Craig David at the Metro Arena. My teenage self is screaming inside with delight at the idea of singing along to Craig David songs! Whilst up in Newcastle I plan to spend time eating, shopping and visiting the Angel Of The North.
Easter Weekend in the Lake District
My parents live in Cumbria, so I have taken some days off either side of the Easter weekend to take a long weekend trip up to visit them. My time up there generally consists of relaxing, doing a little shopping and going to local places for something to eat. Here in Essex I tend to eat out at chain places, so I enjoy visiting small family run pubs or cafes to eat. I will also take a trip out to Silecroft Beach, ones of my favourites places. The photo above was taken by my boyfriend on our last visit to Silecroft.
7 Days in Ibiza
Our main Summer holiday this year will be in Ibiza. We are staying at the Hotel Bellamar & Spa for 7 days, about 20 minutes outside of the hustle and bustle of San Antonio Bay. We plan on spending our days chilling by the pool, lazing on the beach, and sailing the coastline on boat trips. I have been to Ibiza before, but to the quiter resort of Cala Llonga. I fell in love with the rugged coastline and sandy beaches, and vowed to return to the island some day. We are also thinking about hiring a car for a day or two to do some exploring. The island is quite small and it will be really fun to take a car out and just drive and see where the roads take us.
What have you got planned for 2017? I would love to hear your travel plans!
